The setting was odd, unlike every other story.Hills Like White Elephants is set in a bar at a train station in the middle ofnowhere and the conversation between the couple focuses on a veryawkward conversation between an American man and his girlfriend whohave been in a relationship and they have been deciding of either the girlraise the child or go through an abortion. The importance of the story isdefinitely very meaningful and deep, with many symbols throughout thestory. Also, the story of Hills Like White Elephants, the way that wasexpressed by the tone ties with the symbols and the setting help recognizethe main theme of story. The major theme of the story is communication andidentity.To begin, the setting of "The Hills like White Elephants” is not like anyother stories that you may have read, it is very unusual.
