The literature reviewed supports a tailored, multi-modal approach in improving hand hygiene compliance among healthcare workers. The staff of BEMC have expressed their willingness to participate in this initiative. This project will use five components to improve hand hygiene compliance at BEMC. Organizational Culture The organizational culture at BEMC is one of engagement and accountability in delivering high-quality, safe healthcare to the patients and community. Staff at BEMC recognize the importance of their role in improving the quality of service we provide to patients. A hand hygiene EBP improvement strategy is key to good health, preventing the spread of HAIs, reducing hospital stays and improving the cost of healthcare.
