Miske 1 Victoria Miske Professor Melissa Meyers English 101-90 12 November 2017 Cause and effect is a simple concept that involves one event (the cause) making another event happen (the effect). According to Kirszner and Mandell, “Cause and effect, like narration, links situations and events together in time, with causes preceding effects.” But the influence and impact cause and effect can have is often over looked. Essentially, cause and effect has shaped life as we know it. History is cause and effect relationships built on top of one another. This idea can be traced back to Adam and Eve. Eve ate an apple from the forbidden tree (the cause) which caused God to banish Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden (the effect) Change in this world is initiated by a cause which creates the effect. Literature can also be used to showcase cause and effect. Cause and effect can take place within the literature. The literature can cause an effect, or a cause can result in the effect of a piece of literature being written.
