is a multimedia project in the form of a novel, movie and music album. It
is based on creating awareness about residential schools. It shows how was the life of children in
residential schools. It works as resistance against the crude life of residential schools. The story
of a secret path put a great impact on the system of residential schools. It shows the concept of a
schoolboy
Chanie Wenjack
, born in 1954. He was from Morgan Falls First Nation, who was
died in 1966 when he escaped from Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School. When he was nine
years old, he was sent in a residential school for further studies along with his two sisters. There,
the name Charlie was given to him. He was a boy with a good sense of humor. He boarded for
three years there. After three years, he escaped at Far lane, Ontario and tried to walk 600 km to
return home. On that day nine other children escaped from the Cecilia Jeffrey residential school.
