-1 What truly happened during The Boston Massacre? This is a complicated question to answer when the evidence presented is so contradictory. It is hard to decide who’s eye witness account to believe. Many accounts are flaky and the person is unsure of what truly happened. The witnesses I found myself leaning towards were the ones who were right there, within feet of Captain Preston and his men. Witnesses such as Robert Goddard give a clear account of what happened. He is sure of himself and what he has seen without being unsure of who called “fire” and if that person was right to, or even had the authority to say it. It is hard to decide who to believe and who to not when telling their side of The Boston Massacre. Through my eyes I see the event starting out with a small disruption. As witness Alexander Cruikshanks had stated, two boys were taunting a soldier saying “damned rascally Scoundrel Lobster Son of a Bitch.” After which the boys and others started pelting the guard with snow balls. At this point number of civilians started to grow as did the number of guards.
