Executive Summary This report undertakes an analysis of Carnival Corporation & Plc current strategy. Notably, this analysis’s emphasis is on the structure of the cruise industry in which Carnival Corporation & Plc operates. An analysis of the industry structure is provided as well as its overall influence on Carnival’s behaviour. Various strategic issues and recommendations are established based on the market-based view, organisational-based view and corporate analysis. Two—long-term and short-term issues were established as well as their recommendations: Short-term - Carnival Corporation & Plc need to prioritise their environmental responsibility with sustainability issues such as conservation of the oceans from pollutants being crucial. Environmental monitoring has in the recent past increased with development of sustainable tourism and consumer opinion being crucial in the change of operations. Long-term - Carnival Corporation & Plc need to focus more on its customers well-being given the constitution of the Cruise Passenger protection Act which has given the US government and federal agencies more powers to oversee the cruise industry, this is in regard to protecting the consumer rights, on-board security and passenger safety. Recommendations: - External development strategy; develop an effective CSR strategy to address the environmental issues - Customer focused strategy 3

1. Strategic Analysis 1.1. External Analysis ad Market-Based View This report undertakes to analyse Carnival Corporation & Plc current strategy with regard to the structure of the market it carries its business—the Cruise Industry. It endeavours to provide conclusive evaluation of the markets in which Carnival corporation & Plc operates and establish ways in which the firms behaviour is influenced. To establish the various ways in which Carnival is influenced, the strategic issues facing Carnival are established as well as their corresponding recommendations. A number of analytical tools are employed in order to assist in the external framework analysis. They include; PESTEL, Porter’s five forces, individual competitor analysis ad EV forces (see Appendix A).
