What Germany did in the 1900’s wasn’t being considered “genocide” the genocide wasn’t yet made into an international crime. After a while, German politicians started talking publicly about genocide, which meant change was finally happening. Not all of Germany was evil, some protesters pressured universities to send Herero human remains back to Namibia, which started up the conversations. After it becoming public and it being considered Genocide, “that was sensational for us” states Kaunatjike. After reading this article, Germany’s “other” genocide is this mystery that nobody has confronted, but it soon came to light. Germany has a history of being the main topic of this holocaust tragedy, but is today the center of negotiations over an apology and compensation.
