Early Adulthood - 21-50 years old There are minor changes in physical appearance in the 20s and 30s, but as you reach into the 40s more physical differences appear. Skin becomes wrinkled, dryer, and looser as you reach the end of early adulthood. The hair may begin to thin or fall out causing baldness, and the hair may also become gray because of the slowing of production of the colored pigment in the hair. At the beginning of early adulthood the body is in it's physical peak of health and fitness, but as you reach 40-50 years old the health and body begins to decline. You may start to see a loss in body mass and bone density, an increase in body fat, and less flexibility. After it's peak in adolescene the basal metabolism slowly declines with age beginning in early adulthood which can explain the increase in body fat and why many in early adulthood put on weight.
