WARBY PARKER 2 1. How has Warby Parker reshaped the eyewear industry and its consumers in order to create system-level change and, in doing so, created competitive advantages for itself? Warby Parker was redesigned through hiring two contractors and a designer with more experience in the fashion and optical design. They teamed up with the Factory designers and familiarized themselves with concept samples on the different people to round the design process. They later released one sun collection and two optical collections. Warby Parker understood that the high prices were high due to the concentration of power in a single organization. Warby Parker reshaped the eyewear industry by developing low-cost structures. To do this, Warby Parker had to source its raw materials. Unlike most eyewear retailers and wholesalers relied on their manufacturer’s relations, Warby Parker acetate came from a family-owned Italian producer based n Italy. Warby Parker eyewear industry created a relationship with its raw materials supplier that was rare in the industry. Warby Parker also cut out middlemen, avoid licensing fee by designing its own frames and directly work with the manufactures. Warby Parker again developed a Home try on experience to be able to meet the needs of the customer who would like to try on glasses in person. This would enable the customer to select the frames they want and gave them a number of days to try them before resending them back to the company. Customers would submit their orders after choosing a frame and would then receive their glasses via mail. In case of dissatisfaction, the glasses would return within 30 days and Warby Parker covers all expenses incurred in this process. The try-on service, then generous return policy and free shipping to customer put Warby Parker eyewear industry a step ahead in the competition through providing a congenial and convenient customer experience.
