EUH 5934 P. Bergmann T 6:15-9:10 CBD 312 Preliminary Syllabus Nationalism and the Idea of Europe The course traces the tension between nationalism and the idea of Europe since the Old Regime. The first month reviews the recent literature on nationalism and Europeanism. The following six weeks will examine the evolution of the problem over several epochs and generations. The last month of the course will be devoted to the preparation of a term paperwhich will be accompanied with an extended oral presentation. Weeks 2 & 3.
