Andrew Wehba 7/08/09 Chicano Studies 10 Reading Reflections The Mexican Generation and In Defense of the Workplace The reading on the Mexican Generation told a story of an entire people that had  to become foreigners in their former land. There was a bond that held that motivated the  Mexican and Chicano people, “ The Common thread that held together all those  engaged in Mexican Americanization was the realization, sometimes unconscious, that  returning to Mexico was  no longer an option,” (p.90) to create a new way of life. They  had to raise their children in an environment that had no knowledge of the former  atrocities that were being committed against their parents and grandparents. There  were many factors that lead to the breaking up of “Mexico Lindo,” for example, “ Two  Factors arose out of the Great Depression that diminished Mexico Lindo ideology… 1)
