EDU 125: Introduction to Theory and Practice in K – 8 Education Spring 2018 Assignments 2 1) Professional Responsibility - 10% (Standards: 3, 6, 9, 10; CP) You are expected to come to class prepared to engage fully in the work we are doing. Your participation grade is based on the quality (not necessarily the quantity) of your contributions to class, your willingness to work with all of your classmates, the way you involve yourself in small and whole group activities, and your attitude towards the work we are doing. Factors such as choosing to text, email, or be on social media during class time, packing up before class is over, and treating classmates, your professors, and/or your work with (dis)respect will also be factored in this grade. You will complete a self-assessment of your work in this area during the last week of our class together. Your obligation is to fill it out honestly and with care. I will honor your self-assessment unless I see a significant discrepancy. If I find a discrepancy, I will request that we meet in person (or online if necessary). For an A (10/10): ° I missed no more than two classes. o If I was absent, I contacted Professor Larsen ahead of time, made arrangements for my work to be turned in, and ensured that a classmate took notes and collected handouts for me. ° I came on-time and attended the whole class. o If I missed part of class, I spoke with Professor Larsen about it and I got missing work from a classmate. ° I refrained from using social media during class. ° I participated by speaking, listening, and sharing my ideas. ° I engaged willingly in classwork, listened carefully and respectfully to my classmates, and appropriately challenged ideas as necessary. ° I came to class prepared with any requested materials. ° I completed all required readings prior to class. ° I submitted all of my work on time. ° I edited my work for typos and if I needed support I sought it out (e.g. Writing Center, proof reader, etc.) ° I consulted the syllabus to be clear about course expectations. ° When I had a question, I consulted the syllabus before asking Professor Larsen.
