English 201 Research paper: Beowulf Beowulf is a poem from the ancient times that no one since to know whom exactly wrote it. It has many things that make a poem great to the point of transcending times and generations. After all, this poem of over 3000 lines has being translated numerous times, movies, video games and TV shows have being base on or around this beautiful poem. Some of the characteristics that we can find in this poem are heroism, manpower and religious background. All of those are quality to make a poem great. However I will give attention to the form that the author used to write this poem, the used of metaphors, and the religion background. First of all, the poem is rough to the ear, but the reason for that is the lack of words on those days. In other words, their vocabulary was not that extended as ours is nowadays. In addition, the verses do not have any rhyme, but that was part of the Anglo-Saxon poetry of the tenth century; and finally the poem is not arranged in stanzas. The poem
