Padilla 1 Lorena Padilla Ms.Lubak Pre-Ap English 10 18 May 2009 Things Fall Apart In the book Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Nwoye’s sluggish ways began to cause Okonkwo to have a tirade toward any type of laziness. Since he feels as though he is the monarch of his household, he plans on diminishing any trace of carelessness. In order to ratify Nwoye’s variable ways so that he can consistently be a tranquil hard worker, Okonkwo has in mind to use any forms of violence necessary. If Okonkwo’s plans prove to be valid, he is able to surmise that Nwoye will be able to provide for his family as an adult. By trying his best to have his son be a man using violence, Okonkwo kindles a tough-love relationship with Nwoye. The Jews were not only taken away the rights that they were entitled to but were also treated like animals. If ever they rebuffed because of a certain order given to them or were tardy on actually accomplishing the task, they were killed in a brutal way. By synchronizing the Jews so they would all work at the same time, the pompous SS soldiers used them to their advantage. The efforts of the Jews to defend themselves against the sullen soldiers never came close to a stalemate but it was better than not doing anything at all. Day by day, the Jews tried to survive but the sporadic violence used against them was unbearable to the point whereby some wished they would just die so their suffering would end....
