SIO15/ERTH15-2007: Natural Disasters Pop Quizzes There will be random open notes pop-quizzes based on lecture material. A fully correct answer will give one point as 1% extra credit added to your cumulative final grade. Pop quiz questions and answers will be posted here as the course progresses. October 10; Lecture #6; Quiz #1: Name 2 of the 4 natural disasters that can trigger tsunami Any combination of the following four is acceptable: 1. earthquakes (normal/reverse/thrust) 2. volcanic eruptions (explosive or collapse) 3. landslides (incl: submarine landslides, slides into water, collapse of ice shelf) 4. impact of extra-terrestrial object (incl: asteroids, meteorites, comets, space debris) NB: tsunami are generated only if: o events are huge and o events involve ocean or similar body of water Hurricanes do not trigger tsunami.
