Nurbol Adilbekov. Instructor Farran Norris English 104 16 February. 2009 What’s up Doc? A Bloody Outrage that’s What. By Katherine Ellison. The Internet is the biggest library in the world. Everybody uses the internet for their benefits. However, the internet contains harmful violent Internet cartoons which are not for children. Katherine Ellison’s reaction to violent Internet cartoon appeared on October 23,2005 in The Washington Post . The article is “What’s up Doc? A Bloody Outrage that’s What.” In the article ,Ellison considers the effect of the Internet cartoon called “Happy Tree Friends” on child psychology. Every child can learn how to use internet from older people. She states that “Happy Tree Friends” is the fifth most successful internet cartoon. Moreover, according to the popularity of the cartoon ,it is a big money maker. In order to change advertising strategies of big company She asks rhetorical question to the audience “Do you see any problems with such Internet sites” (Ellison 439) to show that how parents react. She answers to the question with different tone by mentioning “Happy Tree Friends”. In addition, the author uses agree tone by supporting scientific fact to show parents reaction.
