Group 5 Project 2 Nintendo DSi Warehouse Abstract: For our second project, we decided to take a closer look at what the warehouse would be like and how we could design it for our purposes. We wanted to put a lot of thought into the layout of the warehouse in terms of doors, ramps, rooms, storage, and more, and try to have it as effective as possible for accomplishing the tasks that will be performed in the facility. We realized that there were really only 7 different areas needed for our warehouse: Manager’s Office, Assistant Manager’s Office, Staff’s Office, Rest Area, Shower Room, Reception Area, and Storage Area. We will also need a parking lot adjacent to the warehouse. After using the FLAP procedure, we decided that all of the Offices and other Rooms should be in the same row and at the front of the building closest to the parking lot. The Storage Area will be one big, open area on the back side of the building and there will be 5 docks at the end of the building. Group 5 Project 2 Introduction Our challenge for the second project was to determine how to construct a warehouse for storage of the Nintendo DSi that would allow for maximum efficiency of the center. We wanted to have a fully functioning storage facility while also accomplishing having a good environment for running a business. We feel that we were able to accomplish this goal by analyzing the relationships of each of the rooms in the facility and placing these rooms in the location in which our analysis told us was best. It is our hope that the placement of these rooms will permit us to have both a fully functioning storage facility and office space. Layout Design Departments Manager’s office: This office is designated for the manager of the warehouse. The manager will have the biggest office space out of all the office workers. Any meeting will also be held in the manager’s office. Assistant manager’s office: This office is for the assistant manager. Staffs’ office: There will be 4 office staff members that work in cubicles of 8X8 ft in this office space. Rest area: The rest area is a common place for everybody in the warehouse. There will be dining tables, couches, TV and ping pong tables. Warehouse workers who directly deal with moving the goods in the warehouse will rest and have lunch here. Reception area:
