MA232 Fall 2008 Test 3 Practice November 2, 2008 The answers to the practice problems below will be posted on the website soon. 1 Method of Undetermined Coefficients Solve problems 22, 24, 26-28, 34, 36, 43, 45, and 49 from pgs. 253-254. I would start with the last 3 for practice with initial conditions. Also look at problem 2(a-c) from the summer test. There will be 3 problems like this, each worth 25 points. These 3 problems will not have mixed forcing functions and you will not need to use the modification rule. A 10 pt. bonus problem will be on the test dealing with these topics. For examples of that, look at

Then put the systems and initial conditions in matrix form. Also look at problem 1(a, b) from the summer test. There will be 2 problems like this worth together 25 pts. 6 x 00 + x = t 2 , x (0)=1, x (0)=0 x 00 + 8= x , x (0)=0, x (0)=1 ( x 000 + x )(1-t )=0, x (0)=1, x (0)=2, x 00 (0)=3 d 4 x dt 4 +2 d 3 x dt 3 +3 d 2 x dt 2 +4 x =0, x (0)=1, x (0)=2, x 00 (0)=0, x 000 (0)=1 1...
