Aliakber Hakimjee Psyc 300-501 Gender Norm Paper The story about a guy who wore a Capri’s Whether it’s a myth or a known fact, I was bold enough to wear a “Capri’s” to a car wash event organized by our pledge class. Capri’s are pants, traditionally designed for women which are about three quarters of the length of regular pants. Since Europe and America are totally different when it comes to clothing and fashion, men wearing Capri’s in Europe is quite normal as compared to being “Gay” or “Cross-dressed” in America. In many of the online website forums such as “Yelp” and “Democratic Underground”, they discuss how wearing Capri’s would imply that a male is gay. Although clothing might not be considered a gender role, it is one of the most important factors that plays role in defining our gender. Different countries have different clothing styles, and like I mentioned before, wearing a Capri’s in Europe would be considered totally normal.
