Ie NWA was shot in copmpton- Then expanded to become a daily show- Hosts doc dre (other dre from NY) and Ed Lover- Ted Demme directed “who’s the man”, “Blow”- Started yo MTV raps- BET started RAPCITY- Yo MTV raps was taken off the air 96/97- Gave hip hop videos a broad mainstream audience- Early days of hip hop starting to become more visual- In early days, only had to rely on beats and rhymes, now with emergence of video, artists now have to focus on image too- Like a short film, needed characters- Overwhelming majority of rappers go by “character” names instead of...
