Candace Fox AC1909452 Careers in Early Childhood ED Assignment 8 02/13/2020 Assessing Children’s Lear ning and Assessing Children’s Learning and Putting It All Together Part A Creative curriculum addresses all areas of a child development and strongly emphasizes the learning environment. I chose to use this curriculum to create a short leading opportunity for a 6-year-old child. Three objectives that I might use for instruction are as follows: 1.Sort items that can be recycled into categories. 2. State why it is important to recycle. 3. Give ways to reduce the amount of the garbage that is collected. Firstly, invite the workers from the sanitation department to speak to the children about why it is important to recycle and what they can do to reduce the amount of garbage that is sent to the landfills. Also, place signs in strategic places encouraging children to recycle. Make it a game, tell the kids that the more we recycle the more we are helping the earth! ( Maybe at the end reward them with a pizza party ) Additionally, have bins with names and pictures such as plastics, paper, bottles easily available to the children.
Next, I would write a plan of what special learning opportunities will prompt the child to explore and discover new ideas and that would support reaching the three objectives chosen. This plan would include having the child create posters about recycling and stick them up around the school, engage the child in a walk around the school to pick up garbage they see lying around and sort them into different categories. We could also encourage the childrens parents to show their support by taking their child to the parks in their local neighborhood to help clean up and recycle. This way the whole family is involved and the child is more likely to recycle at home as
