The oocyte dies and the whole unit is phagocytosed .-every follicle needs FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) to go on and ovulate. The one follicle that moves on needs more FSH and takes the FSH from all the other follicles. The follicles that gets ahead in the race gets a lot of estrogen early on and uses the estrogen to get more FSH receptors and starve out the other follicles so they dont get enough FSH.-FSH makes follicles grow.
