Nadia Shahin Phil 140, Fall 2008 Professor Marmor 11/6/2008 Same-Sex Marriage The legalization of same sex marriage is one of the most significant issues in contemporary American family law if legalized; it could be one of the most revolutionary policy decisions in the history of American family law. The potential consequences (positive or negative) for children, parents, same-sex couples, families, social structures, public health, and the status of women are enormous. Given the importance of the issue, the value of a comprehensive debate may be obvious. Marriage is much more than a commitment to love one another. I intend to prove that there is no reason why the federal government or any state government should restrict marriage to a predefined heterosexual relationship. Sexuality is the sexual desires or sexual feelings of both men and women. On the other hand, homosexuality is in essence an environmental behavior, not a natural behavior. Though no one knows how homosexuality began to be practiced in the contemporary world, homosexual behavior has recently become an increasingly common lifestyle choice. Biological history fails to prove that homosexuality is a natural and normal behavior, like other characteristics found in all mammals such as eye color or any other genetic tendency. and freedom to express them, they have started to explore new ideas to enjoy sex. Amongst these ideas, homosexual sex has risen as a prominent alternative within the gay community that introduced it. For homosexuals, sex with the same gender results in more pleasure then sexual intercourse with opposite genders.
