EE 387 Homework 02 Spring 2009 Due on Wed. Sep. 9 at the EE Homework Slot outside of 121 EE East before 4:30 p.m. For problems 1 and 2, consider the hourly power data for a portion of The Navy Yard, Philadelphia as given in the file “power_data_2009_01.txt”; the columns correspond to the date as an Excel serial number plus a fractional part for the hour of day, real power in MW, reactive power in MVAR, and the PJM day-ahead Locational Mmarginal Price (LMP) at the Grays Ferry substation in $/MWh. To copy and paste this data into an Excel spreadsheet, open “power_data_2009_01.txt” and press Ctrl-A followed by Ctrl-C, then in the spreadsheet press Ctrl-V. To access this data from a MATLAB script file (m-file), include the following lines: load -ascii 'power_data_2009_01.txt' t = power_data_2009_01(:,1) - 39814; p = power_data_2009_01(:,2); q = power_data_2009_01(:,3); LMP = power_data_2009_01(:,4); 1. Do the following: a. Plot the real, reactive, and apparent power profiles (i.e., power as a function of time).
