The Standard Normal Distribution 1. Finding the area to the left of a specified z-score Find the area to the left of z = 1.645 (1) Choose Calc > Probability Distributions > Normal… (2) Click in the Cumulative Probability circle (3) Check to see that 0 is in the Mean: text box (4) Check to see that 1 is in the Standard deviation: text box (5) Click in the circle next to Input constant: and type 1.645 in the text box (6) Click OK (Note: This procedure can be used to find the p-values of z-tests) 2. Finding the z-score for a specified left area Find the value of z 0 such that P( Z < z 0 ) = 0.975 (1) Choose Calc > Probability Distributions > Normal… (2) Click in the Inverse Cumulative Probability circle (3) Check to see that 0 is in the Mean: text box (4) Check to see that 1 is in the Standard deviation: text box (5) Click in the circle next to Input constant: and type 0.975 in the text box (6) Click OK (Note: This procedure can be find the critical value(s) of z-tests) Exercises (a) P(Z < 1.32) =
