1. Infrastructure issues and problem There are five different modes through which the transportation of goods are done from one place to other place. They are 1. Waterways 2. Airways 3. Railways 4. Roadways and 5. Pipelines. Though individually, each mode has its own problem, the major concerns to all these modes are: 1. Technology growth 2. Population growth and 3. Natural calamities Major Issues at ports: Depth of water – Problems due to technology growth and natural disasters Most of the ports have sufficient depth of water which is good enough to accommodate the Panamex, but not the newer larger ships. As a result of globalization, international trade has been increasing day by day. Tons of goods are being imported and exported to lot of countries. The ship manufacturers are increasing the size of their ships to accommodate more and more goods in their ships. Technology growth would not stop. Depth of water is natural for each port. Though, the port authorities in many of the ports have started their dredging activities to accommodate ships with drafts more than forty feet. But dredging is an expensive activity.
