Hatred fumed among Soviet nationalities. Khrushchev and the Loss of China SU’s greatest loss was split with China Khrushchev, in consolidating his power, denounced “crimes of Stalin” in secret speech at 1956 party congress This unsettled Communists Communist parties split everywhere In Hungary, radical reformist Communists took over until Soviet tanks intervened on Khrushchev’s order. Same nearly happened in Poland. Slide 5 Khrushchev and the Loss of China Khrushchev’s speech antagonized China Mao Zedong had not been consulted Disliked the reckless speech for damaging world Communist movement.
