Good morning class. I just read through your final case
once again and I'm amazed at the way this case hits on
almost every topic we cover in this course. I'd suggest
that you read it with hi-liter in hand and call out those
things that you see. That will help you not to get bogged
down in details that are of limited importance to the big
picture. Remember, you have assumed leadership of this
operation so you must be able to take a broad, conceptual
view of what's happening. For example
,
the last page of
the case talks about how warehouse efficiency has
not suffered. So, if you are only focused on
efficiency, you may not see the HUGE problem that
is looming
. From a big picture perspective, however, you
will see that the butchers are not a happy group. Some of
would suggest that their dissatisfaction could become a
very big concern (low morale) that will ultimate cause
enormous problems (e.g., turnover, tardiness, too much
conflict) if YOU do not get ahead of it and MANAGE it
properly. Look for other statements that clue you into
