This course is a masters- level introduction to packet networks. Student Learning Objectives/Outcomes 1. Analyze the architecture of a packet-switched network 2. Apply an understanding of hardware and protocol layers to internetworking with networks of different types 3. The midterm exam will be closed book and time-limited for 1 hour and 45 minutes. One 8-1/2 X 11 formula sheet (written on both sides) will be allowed. Final Project Report: Saturday, 12/01/2007 (by 3:30 PM Central Standard Time). Arrangements for turning in the report will be announced in class. The report must be in digital format (Word or PDF). Grading Policy Class participation: 10% Homework Assignments: 20% Midterm Exam: 35% Project: 35% Letter grades will be assigned according to rules such as the following, based on the overall score: >85: A 75 — 85: B 65 — 75: C <65: F The grading algorithm is subject to change at the Professor's discretion.
