The main type of academic integrity is plagiarism. To me, plagiarism is knowingly stealing someone else's work and claiming it as your own. Sometimes I think students plagiarize because of laziness or procrastination. If a student waits too long to finish an assignment it may just be easier to go online and find the completed assignment someone else submitted. I also think if a student just does not want to put in the effort to complete an assignment, they will plagiarize just to take the easy road. Students can avoid academic integrity by knowing what defines plagiarism so that they do not get penalized. Students also need to make sure they cite properly so the professor knows where they got information from.
