Unformatted text preview: The Sky Below Nick Jordan GenEd 111.18 Extra Credit 4-17-09 The Sky Below was a documentary on the partition of Pakistan from India. In 1947, the partition of this region resulted in a legacy of distrust and an insightful failure to bring together this terrible political split. The film focuses on the effects of the division of the Northwest Indian subcontinent which took place in 1947, leaving the area with 60 years of tense relations, where hundreds of thousands died and millions were permanently displaced. This region is often a main topic in the news here in America, and with the United States being thousands of miles away it can be easy to forget or even disregard the situation that affects the everyday lives of these people. The film also highlights the contrasted realities that make up this ethnically related, yet politically conflicting, region.
