No class Tuesday! Yay. Special office hours on the 17 th sounds about right. 10/07 book 12 is a good part for a midpoint. The greeks are at their most dire point so much so that the gods intervene even after zeus tells them not to. Poseidon fights for them while Zeus isn’t paying attention. Poseidon puts forth the idea that since some of them are brothers and sisters, aren’t they technically the same and have the same power? He is then answered and no, they are not. Hera borros Aphrodite’s charm to seduce Zeus, which is interesting because they are going for different armies. It shows how much of her pride and health she would risk for Zeus and her army. It is strange how sex is brought up all of a sudden. The story is for both men and women so there are lighter moments like the ancient version of a chick flick. In book 11, we get an instance where many greeks are wounded, but a healer is also wounded. We are introduced to Patroclus as someone who can step in a help, who does. He was also taught by the centaur Chiron from Thessaly. He
