3 o clock on Sunday archeological research building? 11/20/08 the language of the epics suggests that theres a lot of evidence that it goes back to the bronze age. It’s a little old fashioned. Grammatical forms were much closer to linear b and not to what was currently used. Homer describes the mycenean civilizations after they had already fallen. Weapons didn’t really change between the iron and bronze age, just what they were made of. To cover a helmet, you would need around 15 boar. It represents a good hunter and a skilled craftsman. The helmet itself probably wouldn’t have helped much. Most of the armor described is armor used at a later age. Theres very little detail of what the armor actually looked like. It is not something that has survived very well. Probably means it was made of leather and linen. But who knows. The artistic portrayal of nude men fighting is not realistic. People did actually wear armor. They weren’t naked. It wasn’t a giant gay orgy.
