Professionalism:Professionalism as an education I believe is 100% key. If you cannot keep it professional with your co-workers, students’ parents or guardians, or even your students, it will be very hard to be successful. I will apply the code of ethics, professional standards of practice, and policies professional decision-making in order to promote positive, collaborative relationships and supportive educational environment for students all by doing a few things. I will apply the code of ethics and the professional standards of practice by ensuring my students know what we are learning before I give them a test that can hurt their grade. I will promote positive, collaborative relationships with the students so they can feel comfortable coming to me if they are having any issues in school. I will want them to be able to trust me and not just see me as a mean lady who keeps yelling at them for not completing their worksheets. By making sure this is going smoothly, I will have to have collaborative relationships. Every student will be very different, butI feel as though this is an answer I would have to give after doing my student teaching and being with an actual class of students who would see me regularly and not just someone who comes into their classroom to observe. In the chart above, I really enjoyed researching information on co-workers. I can see some teachers maybe acting like they are in high school again, spreading rumors, trying to get others to turn against them. Working in my last job I saw this first hand withsome CNA’s. I know they are not teachers, but they were working in a classroom with students. The student reached out to her mom letting her know she felt uncomfortable and another CNA reached out to our agency letting us know what was going on. The one nurse felt so uncomfortable, and we felt helpless not being able to be right there in that moment with her. I feel as though no one, not even adults, should have to go through this feeling. Be respectful of others and you will see that it can help you be professional!2
Student Engagement: “Research has demonstrated that engaging students in the learning process increases theirattention and focus, motivates them to practice higher level critical thinking skills, and promotes meaningful learning experiences. Instructors who adopt a student-centered approach to instruction increase opportunities for student engagement, which then helps everyone more successfully achieve the courses learning objectives.” (” Engaging Students in Learning").
