Paper review 2: “comparative study of maximum power point tracking algorithm” 1. Most of the previous comparisons of MPPT’s were made either between an MPPT algorithm and a directly coupled system or an MPPT algorithm and a converter designed with fixed operating point. 2. According to Perturb and observe method(P&O) the operating voltage of the PV is perturbed by a small increment and the resulting ∆P is measured. If ∆P is positive the voltage is incremented in the same direction until it reaches the MPP and Vice versa. 3. Limitations of P&O method are- a)In lower irradiance level when the PV curve becomes flatten, it becomes difficult to track the MPP due to the small incremental change in voltage. b)Another point is, the method is unable to determine whether it has reached the MPP and cease all activity. Rather it oscillates around MPP changing perturbation sign with change of P.
