MEEN 651 Control System Design Homework 8: Lead/Lag Control Design Assigned: Tuesday, 21 Oct. 2008 Due: Tuesday, 28 Oct. 2008, 5:00 pm Textbook Problems Do the following problems from “ Feedback Control of Dynamic Systems ” 5 th ed., by Franklin et al. Problem 1) Problem 6.49 (Use Matlab to generate the Bode Plots) Problem 2) Problem 6.55 (Use Matlab to generate the Bode Plots) Problem 3) Problem 6.66 (you may use Matlab to do any part of the problem) Exam Problems Create a potential exam problem as follows. Problem 4) Provide a set of 3 transfer functions and associated Bode plots (with Matlab). Students should be asked to select either a Lead or Lag controller for the system, and to justify their choice. They should also be asked to sketch a (rough) Root Locus plot (no calculations) to illustrate the effects of both a Lead or Lag controller, and to use this to further justify their choice.
