(economy, society, politics) o Still going on o Began in Britain • Prerequisites: Requirements for Indus Rev o Labor force and food Population of Britain • 1700- 5 million • 1750- 5.7 million • 1800- 8.7 million Food supply vastly increases • Squires- landlord class o Own farms o 18 th Century, squires needed money, so they improved crop production. • Crop rotation o Rotate different crops to put nutrients back into the fields o Some crops were fed to the livestock o William “turnip” Townshend promoted this kind of crop growth • More food for livestock= larger livestock • To keep animals out of the fields, they started to enclose the animals inside fencing fields • Illegal to build fences in Britain because all land was considered common land • Enclosure movement- law that allowed certain peole to build fences...
