ECE-L301 Laboratory 1 Assignment 3 - Transient Analysis Figure 1: Test circuit for Lab 3 Goal: Determine the capacitance value to achieve the required rise and fall times for the RC network. Pre-Lab Reading: Tutorial 3 Week 3 lecture notes Parts Required: 10k Ω resistor Capacitor Function Generator Oscilloscope Procedure: To design and test the specifications of this RC network we will model the resistance as R and the capacitance as C as shown in Figure 1. The desired output rise and fall time, T r and T f for this circuit is 200 µ s. If the resistance of the model is 10 k Ω use the equation T r = T f = 2.2 RC to determine the value of C. To verify the results of you calculation, perform a Transient Analysis in PSpice. Use a 0V to 5V input pulse. Simulate a 1 kHz square wave by calculating values for the pulse width and pulse period. Remember TR and TF on the source symbol are the input pulse rise and fall times and should be very short compared to the pulse width. Simulate for 2 ms. Print columns of data in your output file using the VPRINT function. VPRINT is in the “Special” library. Open the
