Dear member of the Columbia Class of 2013,  Congratulations on your acceptance to Columbia University! The Columbia University chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon invites you to apply for the  2009 Balanced Man Award. Each year, we award three prizes in the amounts of  $1,000,  $500, and $250  respectively to three men in the first-year class.  Many awards specifically address someone’s intellectual endeavors or athletic  success.  The Balanced Man Award honors the significant achievements and balance in the  lives of students. It is an award for students who have spent their years in high school  exploring and excelling in different facets of life. We seek to recognize and reward  accomplishments in leadership, scholarship, athletics, and community awareness. Sigma  Phi Epsilon believes these attributes exemplify the  Balanced Man ideal: living life with a  sound mind and a sound body.
