Running head: Social Security Administration 2 Introduction The Social Security Administration, also identified as the SSA, is a well-known organization in America. Due to the many features of social welfare, a large federal agency makes this is organization distinctive. According to Copf, Giancola & Loutzenhiser (2012), this organization is acknowledged as one of the 'Best Places to Work.' It is accredited as an organization with strong teamwork by the Federal Government Survey, but even so, the Social Security Administration still has an array of problems. One main problem recognized by the Federal Government Survey is the SSA’s issue with organizational leadership. The organization is comprised of politically appointed executives who change with each new presidential election. This is viewed as a problem due to turn-over rates from other issues within the organization. The SSA is forced to have a high percentage of turn-over with its leaders because they are appointed (Copf, Giancola & Latinette, 2012). Another problem the SSA faces is insufficient resources and aging technology. This is seen in the drastic increase in disability benefit claims, which creates a significant backlog of cases. Though there has been considerable technological advancement, there is still not enough funding for the growing list of duties the organization has (Copf, Giancola & Latinette, 2012).
