You will need the data from your lab notebook to enter the flame color. Special instructions for inputting chemical formulas! If you want to type a subscript in a chemical formula, just type the number. If you want to type a superscript for the charge, first type a carat (the ^ symbol) followed by a number and a + or - sign. Anything after the + or - sign will return to normal font. When grading ionic charges, WebAssign looks for the number first, then the sign (2- rather than -2). WebAssign will not show you subscripts and superscripts as you type. If you wish to look at your response in "chemistry font" (with subscripts and superscripts) before you submit, click on the icon next to the answer box. You are strongly urged to do so to make sure the formula looks right.
