1) In “The Praise of the F Word” essay, Mary Sherry strongly recommends that disadvantaged students be threatened and intimidated by means of flunking. Students who do not learn the material at school from a certain subject should face failure in this subject and be left to repeat the course. 2) “F Word” encloses the word flunking. By creating such a secret and provocative title, the author makes the essay more alluring to read. 3) Read the first three sentences of par. 11. What is your response to this? According to this fragment of the text, not the actual flunking as a policy and as an undertaken measure first of all has its' positive effects on students' academic performance, but rather the thread of flunking does. According to the first three sentences of paragraph 11, parents and teachers express a confidence in their children. They can see the results of flunking which prove them that students are able to learn the material under the thread of flunking. How can flunking students express confidence in them?
