This was done by using a spectrophotometer to analyze the relationship of absorbance and concentration between acetylsalicylic acid and commercial grade aspirin. The average concentration of acetylsalicylic acid in commercial grade aspirin was 67.6%.Materials & ChemicalsMaterials- Spectrophotometer, cuvette tubes (7), 10 mL graduated cylinders (6), 100 mL volumetric flasks (2), 1 mL graduated Mohr pipet, 25 mL Erlenmeyer flasks (2), hot plate, mortarand pestle, and scale.Chemicals- Reagent grade acetylsalicylic acid, 1.0 M NaOH, 0.02 M FeCl, buffered to pH 1.6 with HCL-KCL reagent, and a commercial aspirin tablet.Experimental ProcedureThis procedure was carried out as described in the Camden County College CHM-112 "
