Dr,. David Farbishel Creation Account From Genesis 1-2
“In a world characterized by panic, it is necessary to go back to the
beginning of all things.”(Kebaneilwe, 2015). • Day 1: “God created light and darkness and separated the two
into day and night.” Genesis 1:3-8 NIV
AND IT WAS GOOD • Day 2: “God separated the land and sea.” Genesis 1:9-8 NIV
AND IT WAS GOOD Creation Account From Genesis 1-2
• Day 3: “God created plants, trees, grass, and fruits of all
kinds.” Genesis 1:9-13 NIV
AND IT WAS GOOD
• Day 4: “God created the sky, the stars, and the moon. Separating seasons, days and years.” Genesis 1:14-19 NIV
AND IT WAS GOOD Creation Account From Genesis 1-2
• Day 5: ‘God created sea creatures and birds of all kinds to be
fruitful and multiply.’ Genesis 1:20-23 NIV
AND IT WAS GOOD • Day 6: ‘God created animals to roam the earth and humans in
God’s likeness. Humans to rule over the creatures on earth and
for all to multiply and be fruitful.’ Genesis 1:24-31 NIV
AND IT WAS GOOD Creation Account From Genesis 1-2
• Day 7: ‘God rested and blessed the holy day.’ Genesis 2:1-3
Important things to remember is that everything:
• Everything God created in the beginning was good
(Kebaneilwe, 2015). • All humans were created in the likeness and image of God
(Kebaneilwe, 2015). Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe • God created the world I live in. The heavens, the earth, the
sky, the water, and all creatures that roam including humans.
• We as humans are created in his likeness and were given rule
over all things on earth to take care of (Diffey, 2015). Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe
• The theory of evolution: According to Henry & Dyke (2010), al living
things came once came from nonliving matter, with a series of slow
and small changes over time.
• While I personally believe that we as humans have evolved and
adapted over time, I do not believe as a Christian that we came from
nonliving matter. I believe that God created us in his image and gave
us the ability to adapt to our needs and surroundings as he did with
other animals, creatures, plants, etc. as well. Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe
• While may atheists believe that God was not involved in the big bang
theory, there are other ideas that suggest it was still set into place by a
higher power (The Kalam Cosmological Argument, 2013).
• After watching The Kalam Cosmological Argument, I tend to believe
the latter. I believe that God was responsible in creating the world as
we know it and I believe that it did happen just as quick as scientist of
determined. Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe
• According to Diffey (2015), the three views are:
Young earth: The world was created by God in 6 days and is
approximately 6,000 years old with no attempt to determine the exact age
of the young world.
Old earth: This advances the earth to around 4.6 billion years old and
that life appears in stages.
Theistic evolution: Life evolved in a process guided by God.
• Personally while I believe that God created the earth, it is also hard to
believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old when scientist are
continuously finding evidence of life beyond that. How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview My view on God
• God is all mighty and powerful
• God is forgiving
• God is love How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview My view on humanity
“Humanity was created to love as
God loves, to worship and
commune with him as he does with us,
and to work as he works
(Topic 2 overview, 2017).” How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview My view on our responsibility to the Earth
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all
who live in it.” Psalms 24:1
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden
to work it and take care of it.” Genesis 2:15 How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview Summary
• God created the heavens and earth
• God created all creatures on earth including humans.
• Humans have been created in God’s likeness
• God gave us a responsibility over His creatures and His earth. How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview
Knowing where I came from and what my purpose is has helped
shaped my worldview in what a Christian should be. •
