Trip Evans Mrs. Mechsner English 10 Honors 27 August 2019 East of Eden Cathy is acomplex character in East of Eden. She does a lot of things that many people reading the book may not agree with. No one really wants to root for her in the book because she does things to hurt the other characters. When she was with Adam, she back stabs him multiple times so it can be very hard to want to be on her side. Especially since Adam is one of the favorite characters in the book. Cathy is not a horrible person throughout the book she does things that may shock you. Cathy is a very evil character and a very manipulative, as she does things that are not normal and just straight up evil. She has a very murderous personality and tries to kill many characters in the book. Her evil is shown very well in the book for example, in chapter 8 this was said. ‘’ As just as there a physical monster, can there not be mental or physical monsters born.’’
