S., 2019). There are a few different views of the world such as atheism, pantheism, and theism. Within these different worldviews are a spectrum of beliefs. “Theism describes a worldview that entails belief in the existence of at least one personal and intelligent divine being” (Hiles J., Smith A. F., cha. 2, 2015). There are three different beliefs that stem from the theistic worldview, which that is there is only one God, and they are Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. This paper is going to explore on the Christian worldview and its monotheism. It will touch on who God is. What the purpose of humanity is and who Jesus is. The Christian’s solution to humans’ problems, an overview of the Christian worldview, and finally what my personal beliefs are. God To look at the basis of the Christian worldview, one must look at who God is and what he has done, which can be found in the Bible. In the book of Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 it states, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. The Christian worldview of God is that he is the creator of all things, including the heavens and the earth, all things within it and throughout it, and it was all good (Genesis 1-2). This also concludes that God is sovereign and all 1
powerful. Next, there is the Trinity. The Godhead of God the Father, God the Son (who is Jesus Christ, God in man form), and God the Holy Spirit. They are all three persons but one God, were all present in the beginning, and active during all creation. Genesis 1:27 NASB says, “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created them, male and female He created them.” Since God created man in his image, this means that he has attributes and characteristics such as man does. His characteristics include love, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, compassion, justice, and holiness (Topic 2 Overview, 2017). Now that God’s attributes have been established and man was created in God’s image, the Bible states that man are to mimic these characteristics. Humanity As mentioned above, God created man as his highest creation, in his own image, and seen that it was good. “The Christian worldview does not view the human body as something sinful, but as a gift from God to be used for his service and glory” (Diffey D., cha. 3, 2015). Since God made man his highest creation, it shows his want for relationship with man. He longs to be in
