Samantha KatzFairness and EqualityWord Count: 363Position Statement #2I believe CEO pay is fair because it rewards people for having unique knowledge and skills needed to start, operate, and own a business. As Hayek mentions, the “man on the spot” has unique specialized knowledge pertaining to their work, experiences, and life. I believe CEOsare the man on the spot when it comes to running and owning their business. Credentials also play a role in CEO/executive pay as they often have higher education, degrees, and experience proving beneficial to the company in daily operations.As Cowen mentions, CEO pay largely has to do with their talent, merit, and competition. I agree with Cowen, CEOs create value and should be rewarded for doing so. CEOs take risks in starting their business, as well as use and create their merit and skill set to reach success. These risks and talents cause income distribution inequalities, but can not be corrected without ridiculous laws and adjustments as seen in the Harrison Bergeron story by Vonnegut. I agree
