TREATMENT PLAN 2 I. Key Issues: A. Poor interpersonal relationships Difficulty regulating his emotions Egotistic behavior Substance use (Marijuana) Adam was referred by the college/resident assistant because of his inability to develop interpersonal relationships. The rationale for the order is based on the severity of the presenting issues. Adam’s inability to develop good relationships with his peers due to his egotistic behavior and difficulty regulating his emotions is top priority. Adam’s needs to feel superior to others, his egotistic behavior and his lack of respect for others plays a critical part in his superior view of himself in relation to his perceptions of others which contributes to his poor interpersonal relationships with other college students in the dorm. Adam’s increase use of marijuana also raises concern and may be contributing to his mood and attitude toward others. B. The clinician will work with Adam to help him develop new skill set to communicate effectively, assertiveness skills, to resolve conflicts and anger management. The clinician will explore Adam’s perception of himself, how other view his behavior and attitude and explore the underlying issues surrounding the origin of his perceptions. Exploring the underlying issues surrounding the origin of his perceptions will give the clinician insight on patterns of behavior from the past that form the current patterns. Adam’s marijuana use will be addressed. The clinician will help Adam focus on understanding the nature of substance use and abuse, help him to become drug free and prevent relapse.
