Desai 1 i Vaidehi Desai Ellen Anagbo English 0711 18 th October 2018 How Well Cohn and Friedman Present Their Arguments Social media is not about the exploration of technology but service to community. Cohn et al in their article “Using Social Media to #LeadChange” focuses on social media and its positives with a strong belief that instead of criticizing the use of social media, we must focus on the positives and use it productively. On the other hand, Thomas L. Friedman, in his article, “Social Media: Destroyer or Creator”, examines the experiences of Wael Ghonim, the Egyptian Google employee, who believes that “Social Media is better at breaking things than at making things”. Both the authors have a unique way of presenting their respective opinions. Comparing their arguments, Friedman is more effective in convincing the audience based on the tone, organization of the article and the claims provided with relative evidence. Based on tone and organization, Cohn et al give a flavor in the title itself. They have an informal, sarcastic but informative tone making it ordinary to show people do it in everyday life. The tone appeals to the younger generation to which the essay is directed. For instance, “6:30 alarm. 6:31, cat video… 6:38, I
