Nevaeh Beaumont 10/18/18 McDonald English 9 7 Habits Synthesis 1 In “Beating a bully” by, Ibtisam S. Barakat, Ibtisam’s choices in beating up Nahida was reactive as fighting is never the answer. Nahida tormented Ibtisam and her younger sister Maha. Nahida stole their lunch, physically and verbally abused them. When Ibtisam was in the eighth grade her and Maha moved shortly after the war of Palestine in 1976. They then moved all over the place to find a place where her dad can work and they can rent a house. Ibtisam did not want to move, but she didn’t know Maha’s thoughts as Maha was very shy and rarely talked back about anything whatsoever. Ibtisam tried getting along with people at her new school, pretending to like what they like and acting like them. Although it was hard because the girls had already spent years together before Ibtisam got there. She stopped trying to be friends with those girls and just focused on school and soon got the best grades in all the classes she took. When that happened all the girls wanted to be her friend.
